TWO-MINUTE MONK
Ancient wisdom for modern life, every Monday.
🧘 Monk Thought
“Patience is most beautiful,
yet my heart burns still.”
— Al-Khansa
💡 Monk Light
Al-Khansa lost four sons in battle.
When the news came, she did not hide her grief.
She wept, wrote verses, and mourned in public.
But she also stood up.
She told the tribe:
I did not bear them to live forever.
I bore them to be brave.
Her words teach us something rare in modern wellness:
To grieve is not weakness.
To endure is not denial.
To burn, and yet be patient—this is strength.
Al-Khansa (c. 575 – c. 646 CE) was the pre-Islamic Arab poetess renowned for her elegies and fierce wisdom.
👣 Monk Move
Today, if pain visits you, don’t rush to silence it.
Sit with it. Name it.
Then, when you are ready, stand again.
Tears, then courage.
Both are allowed.
🔐 The Monk Vault is now open.

The weekly post from the Monk will always be free but at some point in the future, I will create a small subscription of no more than £2 per month to access the Vault to see previous posts and get extra material. For now, though, the Vault remains open and free. Enjoy!
