🧘 Monk Thought

ā€œKāore te kÅ«mara e kōrero mō tōna ake reka.ā€
(The kūmara does not speak of its own sweetness.)

— Māori proverb

šŸ’” Monk Light

The kūmara is a humble sweet potato, grown in Māori soil for over a thousand years.

It’s rich. Quiet. Nourishing.

But it doesn’t boast. Doesn’t say: look how sweet I am.

This proverb has been passed down for generations—used to remind leaders, children, and artists:

Don’t brag. Let your work speak.

That doesn’t mean you have to hide.

It just means you don’t need to shout.

Silence has a flavour. And it lasts.

šŸ‘£ Monk Move

Today, say nothing in your own defence.

Let your actions be the echo.

Say quietly to yourself:

ā€œThe kÅ«mara does not speak of its own sweetness.ā€

And then carry on.

You can find all the previous posts by the Two-Minute Monk in the Vault. The weekly post from the Monk will always be free but at some point in the future, I will create a small subscription of no more than £2 per month to access the Vault to see previous posts and get extra material. For now, though, the Vault remains open and free. Enjoy!
