🕊️ The Only Time We Have

TWO-MINUTE MONK
Ancient wisdom for modern life, every Monday.

🧘 Monk Thought

“True happiness is to enjoy the present,
without anxious dependence upon the future.”

Seneca

💡 Monk Light

Seneca lived in a world of power struggles, ambition, fear, and pressure — the same forces that push at us now.

Yet he returns again and again to one lesson:

The present moment is the only safe place.

The future is fog.

The past is ash.

But this breath, this step, this small slice of time — it’s real, available, and enough.

We suffer most when we abandon the present to chase control over what hasn’t arrived.

But when we return to now, even for a moment, anxiety loosens its grip.

Seneca (c. 4 BCE – 65 CE) was a Roman Stoic.

👣 Monk Move

Today, once — just once — pause and feel this moment fully.

The breath.

The light.

The quiet space around you.

Say softly: “This is the time I have.”

And let it be complete.

🔐 The Monk Vault is now open.
You can find all the previous posts by the Two-Minute Monk in the Vault. The weekly post from the Monk will always be free but at some point in the future, I will create a small subscription of no more than £2 per month to access the Vault to see previous posts and get extra material. For now, though, the Vault remains open and free. Enjoy!
