TWO-MINUTE MONK
Ancient wisdom for modern life, every Monday.
🧘 Monk Thought
“Reserve your right to think, for even to think wrongly is better than not to think at all.”
— Hypatia of Alexandria (c. 415 CE)
💡 Monk Light
Hypatia lived in a time of turbulence, yet she taught in open courtyards—on mathematics, astronomy, and philosophy.
For her, thought itself was sacred.
Not perfect thought. Not flawless conclusions.
Just the courage to turn the mind inward and let it question, seek, and grow.
Stillness, she would say, isn’t the absence of thought.
It’s the freedom to let thought wander without fear, and to return with new light.
To think is to be awake. To stop thinking is to drift in shadows.
Hypatia of Alexandria (c. 360–415 CE) was a philosopher and mathematician.
👣 Monk Move
Today, give yourself space for one unhurried thought.
Write it down.
Don’t correct it. Don’t judge it.
Say quietly:
“To think is to awaken.”
And let the light in..
🔐 The Monk Vault is now open.
You can find all the previous posts by the Two-Minute Monk in the Vault. The weekly post from the Monk will always be free but at some point in the future, I will create a small subscription of no more than £2 per month to access the Vault to see previous posts and get extra material. For now, though, the Vault remains open and free. Enjoy!
